What a fantastic experience! I was a touch apprehensive at first, but I never wanted to leave once I witnessed the feeling. Truly amazing! One of the highlights of my holiday in Thailand, one of the highlights of my life. Have a go, you’re only here once! Absolutely superb and what an adrenaline rush. Thanks Andy!
Best wishes, fantastic fishes.

16 November 2007 What a day!! From two non-swimmers point of view. It was amazing! Terrified at first and I mean really nervous; I can’t swim a stroke! Our instructor was great, really helped me and encouraged me all the way! He stayed beside me through the whole thing, holding my hand and bringing me out to really deep water.
I saw amazing coral, beautiful fish and even a few small sharks. Something I thought I’d never see. Definitely couldn’t of done it without your encouragement, praise the whole lot. Thanks a million for the experience I won’t forget.
Go raish mzith agzt!

The ferryboats are quite large and sturdy, however they are not exactly built for comfort. Fortunately the Koh Phi Phi travel times are not usually more than 1.5 hours.

Special Note:
*Arriving on flights to Phuket Int airport or Krabi airport please allow at least 1hour transit time by minibus or taxi from the airport to the ferry piers.

Bus services

Traveling to Koh Phi Phi from BangKok by bus

Government-run bus services traveling to the south of Thailand and Malaysia use the Southern Terminal at the junction of Pinklao and Nakhon Chaisri roads in Thonburi, just outside Bangkok. Getting to the terminal can be a long journey either by local bus, taxi, or one of the infamous tuk-tuk rides. Buses travel to both Phuket and Krabi and can be long arduous journeys depending on how many stops.

Tickets are available from the bus terminal.

Helpful Tips

  • Check your time of arrival and allow at least 1 hour to get from the airport to the pier.
  • Purchase your ferry tickets in advance, otherwise you may find yourself paying double for them.
  • Although problems are rare avoid storing valuables in bags under your seats when traveling by government bus from or to other major cities in Thailand.
  • Apply for a tourist visa in advance from the Thai embassy in your country as this is easier to extend if you wish to stay longer.
  • Make sure you have at least one year remaining before your passport expires.
  • Avoid sitting on the upper (exposed) deck of the ferry as it is common to suffer severe sunburn, even on cloudy days.
  • Bus and boat Koh Phi Phi Travel timetables are usually accurate so picking up transfers from bus to boat is relatively easy.
  • Travel services such as boat, bus and plane are usually full during peak season or special holidays; book in advance.
  • Book accommodationahead of time or you may find yourself settling for a room at a much higher cost
